surprise, surprise!

Surprise, Surprise! That is what we came home to this afternoon after a little trip to Columbus. The story starts 2 days ago with a business card left on our door by a tree stump removing guy who noticed that the city had removed 3 big trees from our yard a few weeks ago. I put the card aside as we were not planning to grind out the stumps right now. Then this morning at 9 am the back doorbell rang. The man stopped by to ask about removing our stumps. I said he could take a look and give me a quote, which he did. I then told him that I was not sure about our plans and needed to talk to my wife, look over our budget (which definitely does not have space for tree work at the moment), and i would call him in the next day or two with either a yes or no... which was going to be a no. The story picks up at 4:45 as we are pulling up to home and i notice mud tracks on the driveway and into the yard... then i see the surprise. All the tree stumps had been removed, with all the chips left in the yard. What a mess, not to mention the tracks in our yard from the trucks. So I call the man, and apparently he confused our house with another one. OOPS.. long story short, he is not getting a penny from me (although he had the audacity to ask if the work was worth anything to me, even if i did not want to pay for a month or two). Ah, NO! While it's nice to get work done for free... i now have a huge mess in our yard to clean up! I guess that is how my Sunday afternoon will now be spent.

one of those days

Today was just one of those days. Seemed like just nothing went right. All the things that I thought were going in a good direction hit some bumps in the road and seemed to go just flat wrong. It's one of those days when you just wonder what in the world is going on. It's hard to explain in any other way than, just one of those days.
What I am really grateful for is that I have a happy home to go to, and just hang low with my amazingly wonderful wife and just enjoy being, away from everything else, in our little sanctuary called home!

Maybe it's time to pop in the movie "Annie" and start singing Tomorrow!

Good Day

Well, all went well at the doctor's office today. I passed the glucose test so that is one more thing out of the way. The baby is squirming around everyday and it is fun to feel her. Paul and I are still trying to decide on a name. It is really hard when we both work with kids. :)
I know that the right name will come along.

A LIttle Bit of Bragging Rights

I am a little bit late in posting this but I thought that I would talk about it now. (I was not feeling too great when it happened in November.) My sister Bee (Bethany) was athlete of the week at George Fox University. She is an outstanding runner and I am so proud of how hard she works. (of course I can't leave out Luke and Mary in this either... they are amazing too). Here is the write up from GFU: click here.

Fast Weekend

This weekend went very fast. Paul spoke and so I didn't get to see him much. He did a good job introducing the Step into Africa stuff through World Vision. If you want to see what it is check out our church website you can volunteer or get free tickets. We went for a walk this afternoon and I was pooped afterwards. It looked like the dogs were walking Paul and Paul was walking his pregnant wife. I was exhausted and so ended up staying home instead of going to the Super Bowl party at the church. :( I was sad that I missed it. Well, I better go to sleep. Tomorrow is another day of school. :)
